Get to Know God - a 28-day Project - Epilogue

This is not the end, it is just the beginning!  Keep asking questions!  Here's one more:
"Question. — What is God?
Answer. — God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love.
Question. — Are these terms synonymous?
Answer. — They are. They refer to one absolute God. They are also intended to express the nature, essence, and wholeness of Deity. The attributes of God are justice, mercy, wisdom, goodness, and so on."  (SH 465:8-15)

We have just scratched the infinitesimal surface of a new point of view on how to Get to Know God.   We only explored 4 qualities for each synonym for God and there are a whole lot more!  If you wish to continue to your exploration of God in this way, here is a list of several more qualities organized under the seven synonyms for God.
If you really want to deepen your understanding of God in this way, I urge you to get the comprehensive work on this subject, Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy which can be purchased online.  Or, if you want to buy one at a bookstore and be able to chat with someone about it, check your local White or Yellow Pages listings for a Christian Science Reading Room near you.

If you just want someone to talk to about it, don't hesitate to contact me and we can continue the conversation.

Above all, have fun Getting to Know God!!

Day 8 – Authenticity

au·then·tic·i·ty/aw-then-tis-i-tee/ η:  1  the quality of being authentic; genuineness. 2  not false or copied; genuine.  3 having the origin supported by unquestionable evidence; authenticated; verified.  4 entitled to acceptance or belief because of agreement with known facts or experience; reliable; trustworthy.

“Now thus saith the Lord that created thee, … and he that formed thee, … Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. ... bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.  Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: … I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.  This people have I formed for myself;”  (KJV, Isa 43:1, 6, 7, 10, 12, 21)

Contemplate the idea that God, Truth, has formed you out of the qualities we’ve been exploring.  What’s it like to accept that you are the genuine reflection of the original Creator and that your spiritual DNA is made from goodness, kindness, mercy, patience, integrity and so on?   Remember in the introduction to Day 1 we talked about witnessing?  If not, here’s what was written:
Witnessing means being authentically present with what you are examining.  It creates the space for fuller connection with the good that is present.  To feel that connection is to experience yourself as one with God.
Awareness Exercise:  Notice the connection between your awareness of the nature of God’s qualities and how you feel when you are expressing them.  Do you feel like you are experiencing not only God’s but your own authenticity?  If so, notice how leaning in to these qualities anchors you in your daily life.  Apply them to a challenge and observe how this application impacts the situation.
“As a material, theoretical life-basis is found to be a misapprehension of existence, the spiritual and divine Principle of man dawns upon human thought, and leads it … to the spiritual sense of being and of what Life includes.”  (SH 191:8)

Tomorrow we take on God is Life:  Whole-heartedness
