“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” (Gen. 1:1, 3, 5, 26, 27, 31)
Contemplate that the order of being is God first, and Man as reflection. “Your mirrored reflection is your own image or likeness. If you lift a weight, your reflection does this also. If you speak, the lips of this likeness move in accord with yours. Now compare man before the mirror to his divine Principle, God.” (SH 515:25-29) Think about this in terms of the synonyms and qualities for God. If God is Love, is good, then Man, God’s likeness reflects this goodness, and so on.
Awareness Exercise: Throughout your day take note of the wonderful qualities you and others express. Applying the order of God first, Man as reflection, notice how the qualities you are observing in yourself and others had to first exist in God, Principle, before you or others could express them. Observing that we, as children, have similar physical features to our parents, now compare your spiritual qualities, to your Father/Mother/God.

“God, the divine Principle of man, and man in God’s likeness are inseparable, harmonious, and eternal. The Science of being furnishes the rule of perfection, and brings immortality to light. God and man are not the same, but in the order of divine Science, God and man coexist and are eternal. God is the parent Mind, and man is God’s spiritual offspring.” (SH 336:25 God)
